Vent Free Fireplaces

Vent free fireplaces are exactly what the name states. They do not need any ventilation at all. They are completely safe to use and with all the sensors that are equipped when using them, they are made to be fuel efficient. In addition to the fuel efficiency,

there are also cost efficient and do not require cleaning. Although there are pros and cons to using fireplaces that do not need ventilation, those who decide to use them will be impressed at how efficient they can be and how simple they are to use.

One aspect that contributes to the popularity of vent free fireplaces is that there is no need for a chimney or a vent through any wall. Although it is recommended by some experts that it would be best to have a window in your home open a small bit while using one of these types of fireplaces, it is not necessarily needed. The reason that it is not needed is because the fireplace essentially utilizes its own ability to give off carbon monoxide in order to vent itself. What this means is that the vent free fireplace that you have is equipped with a carbon monoxide and oxygen sensor. If the carbon monoxide reaches a certain level or the oxygen sensor's level is reached, then the fireplace is designed to shut right off. In this way, the fireplace not only stops creating more heat at that point but it also circulates the already made heat throughout the house since there is no other external vent for it. Also because of this ability to shut off automatically, the efficiency rate is quite high for most vent free fireplace models.

On the downside, however, a small negative aspect to this type of fireplace is that they usually do not create very large flames. This is perfectly fine if your main purpose is for the heating of the house, but some people desire to sit by the fire and gaze at its flames. All of the positive aspects, however, will overshadow this one if you don't mind not having roaring flames to entertain either yourself or your guests. Most people will probably even be impressed an interested in the vent free fireplace itself, which will make for an interesting discussion piece.

A good thing about vent free fireplaces, though, is that they require little cleaning and maintenance. As with traditional wood burning fireplaces require constant upkeep of the fireplace, vent free fireplaces usually require no more than checking the oxygen sensors and carbon monoxide detectors on a semi-regular basis. Those should be checked out at least once a month, if not more. There are many places that one can go to find out more about vent free fireplaces and how to install one in your house.
