Fireplace Accessories

Fireplace accessories are attractive additions to your Fireplace or Woodstove to make your special spot more attractive. Many people choose to add ornately decorated mantels, andirons, and even firebacks for their Fireplaces.

All of these things add glamour to the fireplace instead of leaving it dull and boring. Several examples of fireplace accessories meant to brighten up and add a bit of decoration to your fireplace are outlined below.

One of the more important fireplace accessories that is definitely a must have for your home is a pair of andirons. Even though andirons are used for the practical purpose of keeping the wood logs from rolling out of your fireplace, they can be an ornate decoration as a fireplace accessory also. Some of the andirons that you can purchase are in shapes of animals, while others can be sold as a solid brass or copper stands. These fireplace accessories will stand alone in front of your fireplace, showing off to everyone your style of decoration.

Purchasing firebacks for your fireplace is also a good way to liven and spice up your fireplace. As the name indicates, a fireback is for your fireplace and is placed directly behind the fire, but in front of the back wall. The purpose of the fireback as a fireplace accessory is not only to display a beautiful decoration beneath your roaring fire, but it will also make the fire warmer by warming up your house even more than before. Since most of these types of fireplace accessories are traditionally sold in cast iron, the fireback produces a warmer fire by bouncing the fire off the cast iron, protruding the fire forward.

Consider buying a candelabra for an elegant display! Something that adds flare to your other fireplace accessories is a candelabra display. A candelabra display can be used in conjunction with the other fireplace accessories that you already have, and this type of display can be used in the summer months or those times when you don't necessarily want or need a roaring fire.

One fireplace accessory that was touched upon above is a mantel. Although mantels are taken for granted when owning a fireplace, not everyone has one, but those who do have them use them to their fullest extent. Different carvings can be engraved into the top of the mantel. Pictures, awards, and items that you hold dear to you can even be displayed on top of the mantelpiece for all to see!

A few other fireplace accessories for that quiet spot in your home include fireplace doors, fenders, and even fireplace grates. Although these are only several of the fireplace accessories that can be purchased for your fireplace, there are many other decorations that can be purchased to make that cozy, quiet atmosphere. Some suggestions of fireplace accessories can be found by following the links at the bottom of this page. Altogether, it does not matter which fireplace accessory that you choose, however, because whatever you do to spruce up your fireplace will become a fantastic sight for all to see and enjoy!
